Abe Hubert

Mr. Hubert was born in 1907 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma. He moved with his family to a farm north of Ingalls in Gray County. He attended local schools and took his Finney County Teachers Examination in 1927, and began teaching at Finney County District 20 school, Prairie Lea. He moved to Garden City in 1931, and began teaching and later was principal of Lincoln School. He also taught at Jones School and was a teacher and principal at Garfield. In 1944, he began as principal of Garden City Junior High School. He earned degrees from Fort Hays State College, Kansas State College at Pittsburg, and Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia. He and his wife, Gladys, had four children, Ronald, Carolyn, James and Robert.
